Promptly is a browser extension that helps you interact with AI services (OpenAI ChatGPT and Google Gemini) using custom prompts and workflows.

Data Collection and Usage

What We Store Locally

Promptly stores the following data locally on your device only using Chrome's Storage API:

• API Keys: Your OpenAI and/or Google Gemini API keys
• Custom Prompts: Prompts you create or modify
• Workflows: Custom workflows you design
• Settings: Your language preference and other extension settings

What We Do NOT Collect

• We do NOT collect, transmit, or store any personal information on external servers
• We do NOT track your browsing history
• We do NOT monitor your activity
• We do NOT share your data with third parties (except as described below)
• We do NOT have any analytics or tracking services

Third-Party Services

When you use Promptly to process text with AI, your selected text and prompts are sent directly from your browser to:

• OpenAI API (api.openai.com) - if you use ChatGPT features
• Google Gemini API (generativelanguage.googleapis.com) - if you use Gemini features

These services have their own privacy policies:

Data Storage

All extension data is stored locally in your browser using Chrome's Storage API. This data:

• Remains on your device
• Is not transmitted to our servers (we don't have any servers)
• Can be deleted by uninstalling the extension or clearing browser data
• Is encrypted by your browser's security mechanisms

Permissions Explanation

Promptly requests the following permissions:

• storage: To save your API keys, prompts, and settings locally on your device
• contextMenus: To add right-click menu options for quick AI actions
• activeTab: To access selected text on the current page when you trigger a prompt
• offscreen: To process AI responses in the background without affecting your browsing

We only request permissions that are essential for the extension's functionality. No excessive permissions are used.

Data Security

• Your API keys are stored securely in Chrome's local storage
• All communication with AI services uses HTTPS encryption
• We recommend keeping your API keys confidential and rotating them regularly
• The extension does not transmit any data to third parties other than the AI services you explicitly choose to use

Your Rights

You have complete control over your data:

• View all stored data in the extension's Settings tab
• Delete your data by clearing browser storage or uninstalling the extension
• Export your prompts and workflows at any time
• Modify or delete any stored information through the extension interface

Children's Privacy

Promptly is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
